position summary:

Neighborhood House Roosevelt High School SUN School Lead Instructor: 14 hrs/week during PPS school year. Afternoons Mon.-Thurs., 2:30-6:00pm. Starting pay range: $12.91-$15.50/hr.

Summary: Position teaches a range of academic and enrichment SUN School classes to students in grades 9-12. Topics of classes include gardening, music studio, environmental club, and SUN tutoring. Classes may vary for each SUN School term. Position will create lesson plans for classes listed above to ensure class content is organized and ties to school’s curricula. Position recruits, registers and retains high school students enrolled in SUN School classes. Assists serving food during after school supper time and records daily attendance for all classes. Position manages and reports student behavior/progress in a way consistent with Roosevelt’s SUN student expectations. Ensures program areas are left in a clean and orderly manner at end of each SUN School class.

Minimum Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience working with children/youth. Or, Associate’s degree and three years of experience working with children/youth. 2. Strong classroom management skills and natural leadership qualities. 3. Positive and enthusiastic attitude. 4. Experience and ability to work with students in high school from diverse socio-economic or ethnic backgrounds. 5. Food Handler’s Permit required. 6. Must pass criminal background check as condition of employment.
