National Public Lands Day at Tryon Creek with REI

National Public Lands Day

September 25th 2010

9am to Noon

Meet at the Tryon Creek Nature Center

Celebrate the 17th annual National Public Lands Day with the Friends of Tryon Creek and REI. Pull together to remove invasive English ivy and to protect our forest. Ivy out competes our native plants, takes over the forest floor and ruins precious habitat.

* Please pre-register at

http://www.rei.com/event/9598/session/11986

* All minors must be checked in at the Nature Center

* Anyone under 16 MUST be accompanied by a parent/guardian

* Gloves and refreshments provided

* Please bring your own water bottle

* Please dress for the weather, to get dirty, and to be off trail (sturdy shoes and long pants are strongly suggested)

National Public Lands Day is the largest volunteer hands-on activity of its kind in the nation. Held the last Saturday in September each year, the event brings together thousands of individual and organizational volunteers to refurbish and restore the country's public lands.

We hope to see you on this special day!
