position summary:

APANO is looking for a Convention Coordinator to help supervise and coordinate the strategic, operational and logistical activities necessary for a successful January 2011 Convention.

The Convention Coordinator will manage details concerning attendee outreach, speakers and entertainment, venue decoration, selection of menus, and the distributing of marketing materials.

The Convention Coordinator is expected to be onsite the day of the event to oversee set-up, assist to troubleshoot any issues that may arise, and clean-up.

Salary / Pay Rate:Volunteer / College Credit

Required Skills and Abilities:1) Experience working well with culturally diverse communities. 2) Experience in the Hospitality Industry (Server, Housekeeper, Tour Guide, Bartender, Porter, etc.) 3) Detail-oriented, very organized with excellent written and verbal communiation skills. 4) Works well under tight deadlines, tighter budgets, and is an efficient multi-tasker 5) Ability to climb stairs, able to stand and walk 8-10 hours; able to lift up to 30 lbs
