WANTED: Compassionate, enthusiastic, flexible, supportive, open-minded, sincere, volunteer with an awesome sense of humor to help keep SMYRC’s drop in center running!

Are you passionate about supporting and celebrating Portland’s LGBTQ young people and looking for ways to help make positive changes in their lives? SMYRC is currently accepting applications from community members interested in joining our team of volunteers for the drop-in resource center! Drop in volunteers listen, cook, play, encourage, lots more, and are crucial to maintaining the safety of the space. If so, this might be the position for you! We are especially looking for folks who have experience working with youth, in social services, and/or with LGBTQ communities. Email [email protected] for an application packet!

Required Skills and Abilities:A)Be at least 24 years old. B)Adhere to all boundary guidelines. C)Possess a passion for supporting and celebrating the lives of LGBTQ youth. D)Knowledge of, and ability to implement, anti-oppression frameworks and methods. E)Comfort with youth and youth culture; ability to be non-judgmental and open.
Qualifications:A)Experience working with youth and/or LGBTQ communities B)Exceptional communication skills C)Ability to commit to two drop in shifts/month (approx. 10 hours a month) for a year. D)Ability to commit to training Dec. 4th and 5th, 2010
