Portland Parks Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization formed in 2001, to bring new resources and expertise to the long-term stewardship of Portland's parks and park programs.

The Foundation works hand-in-hand with Portland Parks & Recreation to create a community of donors to deliver private dollars in three aspects of our urban parks: the land, the amenities, and the people.

Programs that serve at-risk children are central to the Foundation's work. Since 2003, more than $1 million in grants have been provided to Portland Parks & Recreation, specifically reaching out to Portland's underserved children.

The Foundation has been able to raise more than $10.5 million over the past ten years by recruiting and nurturing an exceptionally strong staff, Board of Directors, and Leadership Council. This team has built close relationships with generous Portlanders who are passionate about parks and want to give something back to their community.

Role

The Portland Parks Foundation has added significant value to Portland over almost a decade. With the Foundation's help, youth programs reach more underserved neighborhoods, new parks are developed and existing parks are enhanced. Fundraising is and will always be the first priority of the organization.

The Executive Director's major responsibilities:

- Fundraising - Partner Development (public and private) - Board and Donor Development - Community Outreach - Staff Management - Organization/Communications Management

Required Skills and Abilities:The right candidate will lead a highly visible organization, with a Board of Directors comprised of leaders who are passionate about Portland's parks and about ensuring access to parks and park programs for future generations. The Executive Director will naturally be able to work well with a variety of people, bringing them together when it comes to parks, even if they usually disagree on other issues. The Executive Director will orchestrate a variety of voices in support of the Foundation's mission, and will play both a behind the scenes and public role in the community. A successful Executive Director will continue to grow and diversify the Foundation's donor base, channel the energy of those that embrace Portland's parks as a critical part of the community, and will partner with the City of Portland to ensure the long-term stewardship of Portland's parks system.
Qualifications:We are looking for a broad spectrum of candidates to consider for this role. Ideally those candidates would have the following experience: - Proven fundraising ability: working with diverse donors in diverse environments - Outreach and marketing savvy - Familiar and comfortable with the political process - Operations management in a lean organization - Communication skills to well represent the Foundation to the public - Diplomatic style, ability to relate to a variety of people who have differing opinions - Strategic planning and budgeting experience - Board development and engagement experience To apply use this link: http://jobsco.re/h6tnax
