position summary:

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is seeking a Director of Individual Giving to be responsible for cultivating relationships and soliciting gifts of $1,000 and more from current and prospective individual donors. This position will provide a high level of recognition and communication with major donors that significantly strengthens their relationship with OMSI. In addition, the Director of Individual Giving will develop, implement and manage a first-class stewardship program to complement the objectives of the overall fundraising goals of the Development Department.

Salary / Pay Rate:$53,625-$68,372 per year.

Required Skills and Abilities:The ideal candidate will have proven success in achieving results, particularly with soliciting and closing major gifts, building endowments, and executing capital campaigns, ease in working donors of high net worth, demonstrated ability to effectively engage external audiences using strong verbal and written communication skills, especially in ways that enhance a person’s attachment to the organization, demonstrated success in donor cultivation and stewardship, comfort in “cold calling” and following-up with prospects and professional advisors, strong interpersonal and customer service sills: tact, self-confidence and assertiveness, diplomacy, teamwork, good judgment, confidentiality, a sense of humor, self-motivated strategic thinker with a proven record of working independently and as part of a diverse team, handling multiple priorities and achieving results, strong organizational skills, attention to detail and to process, and willingness to adjust work schedule as needed to meet the demands of the position. Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other relationship database systems is preferred.
Qualifications:The ideal candidate will have a proven record of successful major gift fund raising for at least five years and pass Pre-employment and/or pre-duty checks, such as criminal background check, reference checks and requirements in the Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Policy including the MVR check.
