JANUS YOUTH PROGRAMS, INC. has the following positions available.

Janus is a nonprofit agency providing community-based services, including residential and shelter care, to youth referred by OYA and/or DHS, as well as homeless and street-dependent youth. We operate facilities in Oregon and in SW Washington. We are an agency that values diversity and values the contributions made by our staff in helping the youth we serve. All positions involve working together with strong, supportive teams to support and make a difference in a young person’s life.

Administrative Assistant needed full-time to work in both our Fiscal and Human Resources Departments. 

This position is designed as 20 hours per week for each department.  Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, including use of Excel, and 10-key is required, as is at least one-year related experience.  Experience using accounting software is preferred.  Occasional driving is also required.

Teacher needed at Lents Education Center, a relationship-based alternative school for students in 6th – 10th grades, to teach a variety of subjects. 

Our student population has typically not been successful in larger public-school settings.  Approximately 2/3 of our 40 students receive special education services for LD, OHI (ADD/HD), Asperger’s, ED, or CD. Many of our students come from dysfunctional homes or other at-risk situations. 

We’re a close-knit staff, and candidates will need to be able to work efficiently in this team-based environment.  We would prefer a candidate able to teach math, although this is not a requirement.  Teaching credential is preferred but not required.

Part-Time Special Education Coordinator at Lents Education Center to write/monitor IEPs and provide push-in services to students classified as LD, ED, Asperger’s and OHI (for ADD/HD).  Many students come from dysfunctional homes or other at-risk situations and have been referred by area districts because they have not been successful in larger, public programs.  This position is 25 hours per week and requires a valid Oregon Teaching Certificate with Basic Handicapped Learners’ Endorsement. Case Manager needed at our Buckman Annex, an independent living program for males ages 18-24 who are re-entering the community from a structured residential setting. Requires BA degree with major study in social work, psychology, or closely allied field and 2 years experience in the care and rehabilitation of youth OR a Master’s degree with major study in social work or a closely allied field and 1 year experience in the care and rehabilitation of youth. Prefer experience in case management, knowledge of BRS standards, and experience working with Oregon Youth Authority. 

Salary is $2,080 per month; excellent benefits.

Direct Care Staff at Buckman House needed to oversee day-to-day operation of a residential independent living treatment program for males, ages 17-24, who are re-entering the community from close custody juvenile correction institutions. 

Bachelor’s Degree in mental health or related field or equivalent education, experience and training is required.  Personal transportation allowing for transport of clients is also required, as is valid driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and a driving record meeting corporate insurer’s requirements. 

Beginning pay is $10/hour; excellent benefits. 

This is a Friday – Monday position, days, 32-40 hours per week.

Overnight Skills Trainers (Monday-Thursday overnights) needed at Imani House, a shelter providing evaluation and shelter services for boys, ages 12 to 18.

The position is responsible for providing client supervision, assisting in evaluations, and maintaining a structured living environment. A Bachelor’s Degree in a social services or related field OR two years related experience is preferred.

Beginning pay is $9.50/hour plus excellent benefits.

Crisis Intake Specialist needed at the Reception Center.

Position will work as part of a strong, supportive team providing services to youth engaged in the juvenile justice system and runaway youth and their families. Positions are responsible for providing a wide range of crisis intervention services and facilitating connection of adolescent and family to other community agencies, juvenile court, and other support services.

Bachelors degree in social service field or equivalent training and experience working with adolescents and families is required. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred. Driving is required. Hours do involve evenings, overnights and/or weekends.

Starting pay is $11.10 per hour; excellent benefits.

Substitute positions are also available to provide coverage on a sporadic, as needed, basis to fill in for regular staff who are unavailable due to vacations, illnesses, trainings, or other temporary absences.

Starting pay for substitute workers is $10/hour.
