position summary:

Summary of Position: The Academic Project Coordinator is a specialized Project Coordinator position and is a full time employee of the organization, responsible for daily, hands on interventions with Dreamers. They are responsible for collaborating closely with the two class Project Coordinators to set the academic tone for Dreamers, as well as providing leadership in preparing them for post secondary education. This position is located at Forest Grove High School, where Class 8 Dreamers are presently freshmen.

Essential Duties: • Coordinate with teachers on current academic curriculum, meeting with teachers and/or sitting in on classes. • Develop extended day programming to supplement classroom learning, in collaboration with Class 8 Project Coordinators. • Develop and implement a summer academic and college preparation program that a) Is dynamic and attracts Dreamer attendance b) Enhances and augments the school curriculum c) Addresses appropriate academic and developmental issues of Dreamers • Work with Dreamers who have learning issues that impede their school success, by providing coaching on academics and collaborating/advocating with school personnel. • Create and implement a developmentally appropriate college preparatory program that is incorporated throughout the academic year.

Salary / Pay Rate:$30,500-$35,000
Qualifications:• Bachelors Degree and prior academic experience with high school aged students • Demonstrated ability in developing academic and cultural curriculum, analyzing and addressing Dreamers’ special needs and talents. • Demonstrated ability to address issues affecting students and families from lower income backgrounds with a wide range of life and educational experiences • Strong communication skills and an ability to collaborate with Project Coordinators, teachers, school staff. • Willingness to serve as a role model for the Dreamers and to commit to a drug free lifestyle. • Have a valid Oregon driver’s license, be a driver in good standing, and have reliable access to a car.
