position summary:

Purpose of Position: The Program Assistant supports the money management program and provids medical advocacy for Members, who are low-income, disabled, and often dual-diagnosed. The program provides a community of care and accountability as well as long-term support in money management and case management.

Essential Functions: 1. Meets with Members one-on-one to issue daily spending money and track spending.

2. Coordinates Member’s medical appointments.

3. Assists Members with their medications, including record-keeping.

4. Liaison to medical offices, pharmacies, insurance carriers, and other healthcare organizations.

5. Collaborates with case managers in support of Members’ optimal well-being.

6. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Salary / Pay Rate:$12/hour plus employer paid medical, dental and vision, and life and disability insurance, paid vacation, sick leave and holidays.
Required Skills and Abilities:Required Qualifications/Skills/Qualities: 1. Bachelor’s degree and experience in the fields of Social Work, Sociology, Nursing or Psychology preferred. 2. Computer literate. 3. Ability to work as a team member and to make decisions with minimal supervision. 4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships through successful interpersonal, written and verbal communication. 5. Self directed and motivated for social justice ministry. 6. Sensitive to persons challenged with chronic mental illness and addictions. 7. Desire to address problems of urban poverty and social isolation. 8. Ability to exercise good judgment, courtesy, patience and tact in public contact and in problem resolution. 9. No criminal history conviction including but not limited to any crimes committed against a person. 10. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
