On Wednesday, September 24, immediately following the 7:30 pm performance of Eurydice on the Alder Stage, Artists Rep will host its second Panel Discussion of the 2008/2009 season.

The discussion, themed “A Look into the Legend”, invites Eurydice cast member and dramaturge Paul Susi and Keith Scales, Artistic Director of the Classic Greek Theatre of Oregon to delve deeper into this timeless story. The discussion will follow the history of the myth’s evolution, and the relevance in our time. The Eurydice Panel Discussion, moderated by Rebecca Martinez, Artists Rep’s Education and Outreach Director, will begin at approximately 9:00 pm and will run about 20-30 minutes. The discussion is free and open to the public.

About the play: From Heaven to the Underworld and back again, Orpheus descends to rescue the iridescent Eurydice. In this touching exploration of the ageless tale, Eurydice is torn between a reunion with her dead father and the passion she shares with her beloved. Described as “a magical play with gripping emotional potency,” Pulitzer Prize-finalist Ruhl uses a unique, poetic style to retell the classic Greek myth from the heroine’s point of view.
