Market Manager

Now accepting applications for the position of Market Manager for the Hollywood Farmers' Market (30-35 hours per week during the market season)

The Market Manager works under the direction of the Board of Directors and collaborates with other market staff to develop and maintain the market. The Market Manager is responsible for coordinating logistics on a weekly basis. The primary duties include:

- Managing the operation of the market behind the scenes and on market day

- Sending out applications and recruiting vendors, musicians and entertainers

- Maintaining a balanced product mix and planning the layout of the market each week

- Submitting required permits, collecting and accounting for fees, and keeping accurate records

- Updating the market website

- Attending Board of Directors Staff Committee and Admin Committee meetings, serving as lead on the Vendor Committee and reporting to the Board at monthly Board meetings

- Creating a Year-End Report and presenting it at the December Board meeting

- Other duties as assigned by the Staff Committee or Board of Directors

Hours and Compensation This position requires approximately 35 hours per week during the market season of May - Thanksgiving (.55FTE for the year). Must be able to work all Saturdays during the season. January – April (pre-season) requires escalating hours per month, ranging from 20 to 100 hours per month in preparation of the market opening. December is a wrap up month for the Market Manager, during which the Market Manager prepares a year-end report to present to the Board. Compensation for this position starts at $14.40 – $14.65 per hour DOE.

Experience Needed Qualified candidates will demonstrate a leadership role and prior experience with community food systems and farmers’ markets, skill at public speaking, experience with conflict-resolution, proficiency in MS Office, strong organizational skills, excellent customer service skills, familiarity with web design, and the ability to perform some heavy lifting.
