Grant Opportunities from the Oregon Council for the Humanities

GRANTS AVAILABLE TO OREGON NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS FOR HUMANITIES PROGRAMMING

Nonprofit organizations across Oregon may now apply for two types of grants from the Oregon Council for the Humanities (OCH): Public Program Grants between $1,000 and $5,000 and Opportunity Grants up to $1,000.

OCH funds programs that offer opportunities for civic engagement and humanities learning, respond to timely issues and ideas in communities across Oregon, and provide a broad context for public dialogue. Special consideration will be given to projects that explore the following themes:

* Globalism (including but not limited to economics, war, security, labor, migration, immigration, or foreign policy) * Media and Consumer Culture (including but not limited to media literacy, consumerism, advertising, socioeconomics, technology, ethics, or privacy) * Place and Community (including but not limited to public space, property rights, sustainability, localism, land use, urban and rural issues, or the built environment)

Public Program Grants are awarded once a year. Letters of intent to apply for Public Program Grants must be postmarked by November 3, 2008. Opportunity Grants are awarded year-round. Applications for Opportunity Grants are reviewed on a monthly basis and are accepted from November 1, 2008, to October 31, 2009.

Grant guidelines are available for download on the OCH website (www.oregonhum.org ) or by request from Development and Program Coordinator Annie Dubinsky at (503) 241-0543.
