Companion Program Seeks Program Director (F/T)

Position: Companion Program Director Location: Forest Grove, OR Time/ Wage: full time/salaried ($32,000 - $34,000/year) Benefits: Health Insurance, Paid Vacation Supervisor: Executive Director

The goal of the Companion Program is to encourage independence and healthy lifestyles by providing 1:1 support to adults with disabilities who want to participate in social/recreational activities and establish natural supports in their own communities. Based on each customer’s individual goals and interests (such as making friends, participating in new recreational activities, or learning a new skill), Companions provide the needed support for the individual to be successful and become better self-advocates. Whatever the activity, Companions will ensure that the person they are working with has an enjoyable and empowering experience. SRCs will have opportunities to work with a variety of people in diverse settings and, more importantly, they will have the chance to positively impact someone's life.

The primary responsibility of the Companion Program Director is to coordinate all aspects of the Companion Program including the Social/Recreational component, Independent Living Skills training, and Vocational support services (job development and coaching). An undergraduate degree in a human services field and at least one year experience in the area of developmental disabilities (or 5 years of equivalent work and/or training experience). This job also requires excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, computer and supervisory experience. Ability to multitask and prioritize job functions is critical. Duties listed here may vary at the discretion of the Executive Director.

Plan and coordinate all aspects of the Companion Program (SRC program):

• Support customers’ achievement of their individualized service goals • Foster a working environment based on the principles of self-determination and a ‘customer first’ philosophy for the delivery of services • Supervise Staff of approximately 35 providers • Recruit, hire and train new staff throughout Washington, Multnomah, and Clackamas County • Monitor customer contracts (approximately 90) to insure appropriate delivery of services • Design and implement a successful marketing plan, including website management, and maintaining media relations. • Update and Create program systems to insure efficiency and prioritized job performance • Present information to local offices and organizations • Risk Management • Database Management • Payroll and Billing
