position summary:

The LIFM Manager helps develop the farmers market with the LIFM Steering Committee and Friends of Zenger Farm (FZF) Staff and Board of Directors. Based on a seasonal plan, the Market Manager orchestrates the weekly farmers’ market. The position is part time with anticipated required in-season hours up to 25 hours per week. Must be able to work Sundays during market season, June through October. The Market Manager reports to the Friends of Zenger Farm Executive Director.

General-Market Manager Duties · Manage vendors, volunteers, customers and staff at weekly market. · Attend monthly Steering Committee meetings and monthly Lents Food Group meetings and give market progress report. · Manage market budget and record keeping. · Assist in the development of a market business plan. · Implement sponsorship and other fundraising efforts. · Develop, lead and manage promotional efforts for the market. · Assist in development of cultural accessibility to the market by multiple language groups. · Recruit farmers and vendors, specifically emerging and immigrant vendors. · Recruit, train and manage market volunteers. · Maintain complete files with updated contact information on all market participants (vendors, suppliers, service providers, entertainers). · Create mid-season and end-of-season status report and submit notes, files and other information to FZF records. · Meet or make contact with FZF Executive Director once per week minimum.

Salary / Pay Rate:This position requires at least 25 hours a week during the market season (June to October), 20 hour a week during the two months leading up to the market (April-May) and ten hours of week during the off-season (November –March). Compensation for the position is $15 per hour.
Qualifications:Qualifications: Seeking candidates with at least one year experience in community organizing or farmers market management. Must be self-directed and proficient at creative problem solving and organizational development; enjoy working with people from different backgrounds; and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. General background and strong interest in healthy eating and improving access to affordable, nutritious foods is required; established working relationship within the Lents Neighborhood is preferred. Must be proficient in using Microsoft Word and Outlook, able to work basic office equipment. Strongly prefer bilingual candidate.
