Gus Van Sant Rolls out the Red Carpet for Outside In

YOU ARE INVITED to the Portland debut of "MILK"

A film about the life of Harvey Milk A Benefit for OUTSIDE IN Celebrating 40 years

Graciously hosted by the director, GUS VAN SANT

We hope you can join us for this very special 40th anniversary celebration!

“Milk” tells the story of prominent gay activist and San Francisco city politician Harvey Milk during the years leading up to his assassination in 1978.  His life changed history. His courage changed lives.

Starring Sean Penn, Emile Hirsch, Josh Brolin and James Franco, “Milk" was filmed on location in San Francisco. Many of Mr. Milk's real-life surviving friends and former associates participated in the making of this film, several appearing on camera.

"Just as Harvey Milk's bravery and sense of hope changed history, Outside In has encouraged and empowered a population that is sometimes overlooked and underestimated," Gus Van Sant said.

The Portland premiere of “Milk”  will occur at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in the heart of the downtown cultural district (1037 SW Broadway). A red carpet, Hollywood-style search lights, and the historic illuminated marquee will set the scene as film industry celebrities, local civic leaders, and Outside In supporters gather to experience “Milk” and celebrate the work of Outside In.  Gus Van Sant will deliver personal remarks to the crowd of 2,700 at 8:30 p.m.

Tickets ($37.75 - $71.75) are available through Ticketmaster or the Portland Center for Performing Arts box office.
