position summary:

The Executive Director is responsible for directing the daily operations of the organization, including overseeing the management of programs; working with the board to develop and implement strategic and annual plans; developing and providing stewardship of external relationships; and leading fundraising efforts.

We are looking for an Executive Director who can motivate staff and board members to embrace their roles within the organization, and who can inspire the organization to explore ways to better serve our constituents. We value our community relationships, the youth and families that we serve, and the mentors who work with our students; we seek an Executive Director who publicly appreciates and supports the various constituents who are integral in developing strong, capable youth. We desire an Executive Director who is passionate about supporting youth to exceed their expectations and who will promote the positive impacts of the organization’s programs.
Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree and 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible management and leadership experience. Masters degree a plus. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communicating effectively with a variety of groups of people, e.g. government and city officials, staff, board members, funders and donors. • Experience in fundraising and demonstrated success in developing diverse streams of funding opportunities. • Demonstrated experience and success in building relationships with a range of groups, e.g. schools, government and city officials, corporations, funders and donors, board members, staff members, constituents. • Demonstrated experience in staff management, development, and retention. • Commitment to developing cultural competencies throughout all areas of the organization. • Experience in working with a board of directors. • Proficient in interpreting and analyzing basic financial statements. • Strong understanding of human resource management. • Experience in youth development, education, or related fields a plus.
