The Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering (ASE) Program matches highly qualified high school students with mentors for intense 8-week science and engineering internships. Mentors work in over 100 companies, universities, private industry and research organizations, and host the students on-site at their workplace. The program was initiated in 1990 to address a growing concern over the quantity, quality and diversity of our nation’s future technical and scientific work force. We currently serve 125 students per year.

FSLA Status: Exempt

Duties • Lead strategic planning, design, and delivery of program • Recruit mentors, students and program volunteers • Develop and manage program budget, including significant earned revenue • Work with Director of Development in - designing fundraising strategies - developing proposals - implementing, tracking and reporting on grants • Direct affirmative outreach to under-represented groups

Accountabilities • Program growth to 150 apprenticeships annually • Timely delivery of all program elements • Excellent relationship management with program participants and funders

Preferred Characteristics • History of non-profit program administration • Experience working with the local corporate sector • Sales or development experience • Creative, strategic, high-energy team player

Supervision & Reporting • Supervises PT ASE program coordinator, seasonal ASE Recruiter, and seasonal Teacher Monitors • Reports to Executive Director
