SAFER Administrative Program Assistant

The State Alliance for Federal Reform of Chemicals Policy (SAFER) is a strategic national campaign with the goal of establishing a new chemical regulatory system that protects the environment and public health from toxic chemicals, and transitioning to a cleaner, greener economy. SAFER is working with states and organizations across the country to pass progressive policy at the state and federal level.

SAFER is seeking a motivated self-starter to provide research support, facilitate the administrative processes of SAFER and help with outreach to key partners. Ideal candidate will have a proven track record of completing concise, summaries of information and experience working with a variety of people in different contexts. Candidate will also be extremely comfortable with the phone and internet as primary means of communication.

Job Responsibilities:

Facilitate SAFER Administration • Administer SAFER work group conference calls (includes, but is not limited to setting dates and times for call and taking and posting notes). • Contribute to the administration of the website (including the copyediting text, drafting, finding and uploading documents, photos, text, etc.). • Coordinate meeting logistics for the annual meeting and other SAFER sponsored face-to-face meetings. • Process reimbursement requests from staff and SAFER leadership.

Conduct Outreach to Key Partners • Conduct regular check in calls with the leadership of SAFER states and key partner organizations. • Contribute to the blog and other web based communications.

Provide Research Support • Research, summarize and present concise, strategic analysis of issues as necessary. • Track and keep up to date multiple databases (e.g. media hits, legislative activity, etc.).

Job Qualifications: • Excellent verbal and written communications skills • Ability to work independently • Strong research skills • Excellent computer skills, familiarity with blogging, typepad, photoshop other computer programs a plus. • Detail oriented • Experience working on an advocacy campaign helpful, but not required

Reports to: National Campaign Manager

Position: Ideally full time but flexible

Location: Portland, Oregon

Pay: Commensurate with experience includes paid vacation, health care and dental coverage, contributions to a retirement plan and tax-deferred savings through a 403 (b) plan.
