Day of the Dead show at Miracle Theatre Oct. 24-Nov. 9

‘LA CARPA DEL MAESTRO’ MIRACLE THEATRE’S ANNUAL DAY OF THE DEAD CELEBRATION Miracle Theatre Group is pleased to present “La Carpa del Maestro”, this year’s original, bilingual celebration of el Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) written by Martín Milagro and directed by Philip Cuomo (who won a Drammy award for his direction of our 2006 show).

ABOUT THE SHOW Every fall, the dead are commemorated in a lively show of dance, music and theatre in Portland’s longest-running Day of the Dead celebration. This year, our signature carpa — that wildly popular and irreverent vaudeville — marches to the beat of a new drummer as a folkloric master gives way to the rise of a contemporary apprentice, el nuevo maestro. Join us when los muertos return in this mod, mid-century mash of bobby-soxers and beatniks, a defining point in time when culture revered — and counter-culture reinvented — tradition.
