The Northeast Oregon (NE OR) Rangeland Manager develops, manages and advances grazing related programs, plans and methods for conservation sites in NE OR. The two priority conservation sites are Zumwalt Prairie and Hells Canyon. These sites contain nearly 1.5 million acres of significantly threatened grassland systems and public and private land grazing is the primary land use. The Rangeland Manager will work closely with the Regional Director, Regional Ecologist and Zumwalt Preserve Manager to accomplish program goals.

Salary / Pay Rate:$20,115 - $24,000, part-time salary + full benefits
Required Skills and Abilities:REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years experience in natural resource management or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree in rangeland ecology or natural resource management preferred. • Ability to communicate and work closely with scientists, applies science to decision-making, and guide scientific activities. • Experience working with the media, government officials, members of the public including landowners, to improve programs outcomes. • Knowledge of ecological land management principles and current trends and practices in conservation, land management and natural resource preservation. • Ability to manage time and diverse activities under deadlines while delivering quality results. • Working knowledge of MS Office applications, ArcGIS and GPS hardware and software. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to perform physical work and drive ATVs, 4x4 vehicles, and ride horseback.
Qualifications: BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years experience in rangeland ecology and management, natural resource management or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Knowledge of natural systems and experience in ecological land management principles. • Experience communicating with the public and/or media both in writing and verbally. • Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, ArcMap GIS, Web browsers, etc. • Experience performing physical work. • Experience leading work teams and supervising staff.
