The Zumwalt Preserve Manager develops, manages and advances conservation programs, plans and restoration methods for the 33,000 acre Zumwalt Prairie Preserve as well as the nearby 3500 acre Clear Lake Ridge Preserve. This position works closely with the other permanent staff in the Northeast OR office (Regional Ecologist, and Regional director) and supervises 2-5 full time permanent and seasonal staff.

Salary / Pay Rate:$38,000 - $43,000 annual salary + full benefits
Required Skills and Abilities:• Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years experience in natural resource management or equivalent combination of education and experience. Significant experience and training in prescribed fire, invasive species management and restoration of grasslands and riparian systems preferred. Understanding of applied livestock grazing systems preferred. Advanced degree in biological sciences preferred. • Working with media and influential officials, especially governmental, to improve Conservancy programs’ outcomes • Ability and willingness to apply science to decision-making and guide activities • Ability to communicate and work closely with scientists • Knowledge of ecological land management principles. • Knowledge of current trends and practices in conservation, land management and natural resource preservation. • Ability to manage time and diverse activities under deadlines while delivering quality results. • Working knowledge of common software applications including MS Office, GIS software and mapping. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to operate ATV, 4x4 vehicles and hand tools
Qualifications:BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years experience in natural resource management or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Knowledge of grassland and riparian systems and experience in ecological land management principles, especially invasive species, grazing management and prescribed fire. • Experience communicating with the public and/or media both in writing and verbally. • Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, Web browsers, etc. • Experience performing physical work. • Experience leading work teams and supervising staff.
