position summary:

The Development Director is responsible for planning, directing and implementing a comprehensive development program with emphasis on major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, individual gifts, special events, planned giving and other effective methodologies. The Development Director is additionally responsible for SALC public relations and marketing.

Salary / Pay Rate:DOE with excellent benefits.
Required Skills and Abilities:Responsibilities: • Work actively with members of the Board of Directors and Executive Director to develop, articulate and implement the annual development plan for SALC. Plan includes goals and activities for fundraising, public relations, publications and community relations as they relate to the fundraising effort. • Conduct donor cultivation, appreciation and solicitation to grow donor base and increase SALC’s annual fund contributions. • Build and maintain foundation relations, including research, personal meetings, completion of grant proposals and grant reporting. • Conduct annual special event activities including annual Race for Justice and annual Wine Tasting & Auction. • Conduct year-end fundraising campaign. • Provide staff leadership to the development and special event committees. • Supervise SALC Development Associate, responsible for database maintenance and general development support. • Motivate and train board members, development committee members, staff and volunteers in fundraising methods and solicitation techniques. • Prepare press releases and editorials for publications as appropriate. • Produce annual newsletter, brochure updates and manage SALC web site. • Support Executive Director, VP – Finance/Operations, and Board of Directors on planning and budgeting issues. • Make presentations to sponsors, general public and volunteers as needed. • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Qualifications: • At least 5 years experience in non-profit development work with proven success in all major revenue tracks • Knowledge of fundraising policies, tax and regulatory guidelines • Experience in budget analysis and project management • Knowledge and scope of fundraising sources • Knowledge of volunteer management procedures • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word and database management • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing • Great organization and planning skills • Familiarity with the Oregon legal community a plus This is a full-time position and includes a generous benefits package.
