Teach Oregonians to Read!

Become an Adult Literacy Volunteer and Change a Life.... Forever!

Did you know that one in five adults read at or below a fifth-grade reading level? And that low adult literacy levels are directly linked to poverty, poor health outcomes, and crime/incarceration? And that the literacy levels of parents are crucial in predicting those of their kids?

Did you know that you can help stop this cycle?

Become a tutor with the Volunteer Literacy Tutoring program at Mt. Hood Community College and help adults in our community learn the basic reading skills that can transform their lives.

Tutors commit 2-4 hours every week and work one-on-one or with small groups at sites all around the metro area. All tutors receive training and support. You do not need a background in education to be a world-class tutor... just a desire to help empower and enrich your students' lives.

Our next volunteer training is coming up soon! Call or email for more information:
