The Administrative Intern at the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation has an opportunity to explore career options at a direct service, non-profit organization that provides life changing health assistance to low-income individuals while developing public speaking, writing, graphic arts and computer skills.

Since 1959, the Oregon Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation, in partnership with Lions Clubs across Oregon, has been a leader in meeting urgent sight, hearing and health assistance needs. Through sight and hearing saving surgeries and treatments, preventative health screenings, hearing aid and eyeglass referrals, the Foundation’s programs provide critical health solutions to uninsured or under insured Oregonians.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Public Relations and Community Outreach Director with communication efforts, including writing news releases, fact sheets, public service announcements and other promotional materials; pitch feature stories; help develop/implement communication and marketing strategies; identify and gather newspaper data for data base using a variety of resources, including web sites, published resources and phone calls; perform other related administrative duties as required.

Required Skills and Abilities:Professional college Junior, Senior, graduate student or graduate who has completed coursework in Marketing/Communications, Creative Writing, English, Journalism or Social Studies; excellent creative writing skills; able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing; computer graphics skills preferable (InDesign); proficient in MS Office a plus; strong organizational and time management skills who can handle multiple projects simultaneously; attention to detail; positive attitude; willing to work irregular schedule, be flexible, and adjust to changing work conditions; individuals interested in the non-profit sector and/or direct service profession are highly desirable.
