Stand-Out Résumés and Targeted Job Search Tips

Stand-Out Résumés and Targeted Job Search Tips: How to Get Noticed in Today's Competitive Marketplace The economy is down. Employers are handing out pink slips. Your company's earnings are off and there are a lot of closed-door discussions going on, adding to employee anxiety. Or, simply, the work that you are doing isn't as exciting as it used to be. Now what do you do? And on top of it all, you've heard that for every job opening, there are at least 50-200 applicants. How on earth should you take the leap and look for work? And at the same time, what can you do to help build your chances of an interview and make yourself stand out in such a competitive marketplace?

Sudden shifts can leave one's life in a jumble, but while that can mean instability in one place, that can also mean opportunity in another. Discover how you can use this time to change your career direction by leveraging the skills you have into a new position or career direction. This session will feature Portland-area résumé writer Dawn Rasmussen who will walk through developing the strategy behind this important career document and help you feel empowered and confident that you are putting your best foot forward. Tips shared will include how to structure your résumé, what hiring managers are looking for, and how to create a flattering format that helps clearly and attractively make you stand out. Additional information will be provided about developing a targeted job search plan that will match your abilities, in order to increase your chances of getting to the interview stage.
