  The Lower Columbia River Estuary Partnership seeks a Habitat Restoration Coordinator to work as part of a team to carry out the goals of the Estuary Partnership. For information on the Lower Columbia River Estuary Partnership and a full Position Description with salary range see:  www.lcrep.org   General Position Description The Estuary Partnership Habitat Restoration Coordinator is a technical specialist who works as part of a professional team to implement the Estuary Partnership’s Habitat Restoration Program. In particular, this position is focused on pile structures in the mainstem lower Columbia River, but may also include other related issues and tasks. Work includes evaluating pile structures (dikes, fields, etc.) for removal, enhancement, study or monitoring. Pile structure enhancement or removal has been identified as a potential salmon recovery technique. As the program is new and evolving; this position requires strong leadership and ability to quickly adapt to program changes.

  Duties and Responsibilities ·         Plans and implements activities related to the Estuary Partnership’s habitat restoration program.  Builds relationships with wide variety of partners involved in lower Columbia River restoration. ·         Works with Technical Programs Manager, other Estuary Partnership Staff, and the Estuary Partnership Science Work Group on the habitat restoration program – most specifically on coordinating a pile structure program and working with the Estuary Partnership’s Science Work Group Pile Structure Subcommittee. ·         Works with partners to identify potential projects, monitoring needs, and evaluation plans for restoration and pile structure projects. ·         Develops scopes of work and requests for proposals for potential projects and/or funding sources.

·         Develops implementation plans for pile structure projects, secures engineering designs, all necessary permits, oversees contractors and project implementation, and ensures compliance with applicable laws and rules, including permitting requirements and processes. ·         Works with Partnership Monitoring Coordinator to ensure adequate pre and post data collection, including data for engineering designs.

·         Disseminates information about program and projects. 

·         Represents the Estuary Partnership at informational and public meetings on matters related to the Estuary Partnership habitat restoration and pile structure program. 

·         Develops and coordinates intra- and inter-organization cooperation through planning, organizing, and scheduling meetings and work sessions with appropriate staff and organizations. 

·         Keeps current on scientific literature related to estuaries, monitoring, restoration, and conservation biology. ·         Work Groups and Committees.  Provides support to the Estuary Partnership Technical Programs Manager work and to the Estuary Partnership Science Work Group and its subcommittees.

·         Technical Assistance/Consultation.  Responds to technical questions related to the Estuary Partnership habitat restoration program, in particular the pile structure program.   Minimum Qualifications Two years experience in a scientifically based area.  At least one year of the experience must be at a technical position performing activities in a natural resource program relating to habitat conservation and water quality.  On-the-ground restoration experience is preferred. A Bachelor's degree in field related to water quality, marine sciences, biology or habitat conservation is required.  A Master's degree is preferred.
