Be a volunteer mentor or tutor

Make a difference in a child's life...be a volunteer MENTOR or TUTOR!   Neighborhood House, Inc. serves children and families in both Southwest and North Portland.   The Lunch Buddy Program involves spending the lunch/recess period with a student once a week.  Sit and talk, play a board game, read a book together, or hang out on the playground. Available at Markham School is SW Portland or Clarendon-Portsmouth School in North Portland.   The North x Southwest Mentoring Project is community-based mentoring of youth ages 7 to 14. Volunteers commit to 2 or 3 hours of mentoring per week for a minimum of one year. They offer low or no-cost activities, friendship, support and guidance. Mentoring takes place in a community setting on the weekends or after school.   Also, we have volunteer opportunities to tutor students individually or in small groups.   For more information or to receive an application, please call John at 503-869-8623.
