Description

Portland Community Media (PCM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the production of local, non-commercial public access media developed and produced in the community, by the community and for the community. PCM has served the citizens of Portland for more than 28 years, providing training and tools for individuals and organizations to use cablecast and other media as a means of communication, civic involvement, artistic and cultural expression and community development.

PCM cablecasts locally produced television programmng with service on six channels: 11, 21, 22, 23, POP 29 and CityNet30 (airing local government and public affairs programming). Channel 11 (the Community Access Network), reaches more than 400,000 cablecast subscribers in four counties: Multnomah, Washington, Columbia and Clackamas counties.

PCM's media education programs provide members of the community with the skills to create cable television programs and other media. After completing classes, community members have access to PCM's video facilities and equipment to produce programs as a means of communication, civic involvement, artistic and cultural expression and community development.

PCM also offers:

-specialized services to help non-profit organizations communicate their mission through media

-youth media education services provided in partnership with schools, after-school program and community based organizations

-a free Community Bulletin Board service for community announcements by non-profit organizations, schools and other public service organizations
