Job: Portland-based Science Inst. Hiring P/T Office Associate/Bookkeeper/Grant Administrator

Part-time Office Associate/Bookkeeper/Grant AdministratorA part-time office associate is needed at the Institute for Culture and Ecology (IFCAE), a 10-year old science oriented nonprofit located in inner southeast Portland, Oregon.  IFCAE has a small staff, a Board of eight, and dozens of contractors and collaborators depending on the current suite of projects. 

We are interested in hiring a responsible, capable, and self-motivated person looking for long-term employment.  We would like somebody who shares similar values with our organization (www.ifcae.org) and who will be environmentally conscious in the office.  We have a friendly, easy-going organizational culture (casual dress, informal chats, humor) but we depend on a high degree of excellence from every one involved.  Though the employee will work for and report to IFCAE's Management Team we strive for egalitarianism, transparency, and employee input in the workplace. Primary Duties: - Accounting/bookkeeping and financial reports - Administer grants (does not include writing grants except for areas related to administration) - Maintain fundraising databases - Maintain organizational calendar - Maintain office records/filing (about 75% are digital)  Secondary Duties (negotiable): - Assist staff with outreach events and materials - Simple updates to website (training and content provided by staff) - Attend Board meetings, take notes - Other routine office tasks (e.g., developing forms, invoicing, answering phone)

Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience - Five years experience with bookkeeping - Two years experience administering federal grants - Knowledge of nonprofit funds accounting - Good organizational and communication skills - Able to (and enjoy to) learn and work on your own and as a team - Basic computer operating knowledge, backing up data, Windows, Excel, Word, and Acrobat software - Job includes extensive speaking, writing, and reading in the English language - Able to pass a criminal background check and have a valid social security card or work permit
