National Women's Health Week Funding Opportunity

Funding is available for activities and events in support of National Women’s Health Week (NWHW). The purpose of NWHW is to empower women across the country to get healthy by taking action. The nationwide initiative, coordinated by the U.S. Health and Human Services Offices on Women’s Health (OWH), encourages women to make health a top priority and take simple steps for a longer, healthier and happier life.

Who can apply: Not-for-profit organizations, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, state and local health departments, tribal organizations, professional associations, colleges and universities. Oregon is part of Region X along with Alaska, Idaho and Washington. Region X may receive up to 8 awards, $2,500 each.

Activities should take place between Sunday, May 10 and Saturday, May 16, 2009.

Applications must be received by January 15, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. Mountain Time. Applicants will be notified by e-mail or mail as to the status of their application by February 12, 2009.

NWHW funding applications could include: health walks, health fairs, health workshops for women and girls. Ideas for projects, posters, and other educational materials are available at: http://www.womenshealth.gov/whw/spread/

NWHW contract proposal must be for a specific NWHW event or activity. All funded events must logged on the National Women’s Health Week website (http://www.womenshealth.gov/whw/).

Examples of activities that will not be funded include: research, direct clinical services, screening services and testing kits.
