Naturally Beautiful Backyards Volunteer Training, January 22nd

Reminder:  The Naturally Beautiful Backyards Program at Columbia Springs will begin its 2009 volunteer training on January 22nd in Vancouver. Volunteers will learn about Earth-friendly gardening and landscaping techniques and share that knowledge with the people of Clark County, WA at community events over the course of the year.   Volunteer training topics include: organic vegetable gardening, use of native plants, healthy soil preparation and maintenance, composting, attracting beneficial species, chemical-free pest control, water conservation techniques, Earth-friendly lawn care, and more!Naturally Beautiful Backyards volunteer training sessions will take place on Thursday evenings, January 22 through March 26, from 6 to 9 p.m.Space is limited and pre-registration is required. The program is located at Columbia Springs and is offered in partnership with the Clark County Solid Waste Program.  The Naturally Beautiful Backyards Program is funded by, and a cooperative effort of Battle Ground, Camas, Clark County, La Center, Ridgefield, Vancouver, Washougal, and Yacolt.  Columbia Springs provides environmental education opportunities for the community and students of all ages.
