Topic: Planning for Success: The Annual Development Plan for Grassroots Organizations

Description: Designed specifically for grassroots groups who want to implement best practices of fund development planning but need practical processes that are scaled down for the small shop. Participants will share ideas for building and growing their development efforts. Everyone will receive development plan and fundraising report templates that can be adapted for use in their own organizations. This session will include guidelines for reasonable expectations for return on investment during the start up phase of a new development program.

Learning Objectives:  The prerequisites necessary for effective goal setting  Self-assessment questions to start the planning process  How the fund development plan interfaces with the strategic plan and operating budget  The five questions every development plan must answer  Best practices for measuring results and the role of the board in planning and evaluation  Common mistakes and how to avoid them
