World Water Day, Sunday, March 22, 2009, Portland, OR

World Water Day is recognized every year by the United Nations on March 22nd, to acknowledge the one billion people worldwide without access to clean water. Portland Roasting Coffee Company has stepped up to raise awareness and host Portland's first annual World Water Day fundraiser to benefit the non-profit Water For All whose mission continues to provide clean drinking water to schools and communities across Southern Africa.

The World Water Day event in Portland begins with a Walk for Water at 1pm (simulating a typical water gathering experience for children in Africa) followed by a grand Celebration at 3pm, featuring community-focused activities plus live music by Seattle band, Creme Tangerine, and refreshments hosted by Portland Roasting Coffee Company and other local businesses. At 1:30 & 3:30pm, participants can view the 2008 award-winning water documentary, FLOW, in the World Trade Center Auditorium, where the Concert Series also takes place at 6pm, featuring Stephanie Schneiderman, the Pete Krebs Trio and other local musicians in support of World Water Day and Water for All.
