Hats & Scarves Project -- bravo!

In the past three weeks, nearly 100 beautiful newly crafted hats and scarves have been donated to Living Earth’s Hats & Scarves Winter Warming project. Practically every day this month, our donation basket at Seven Corners New Seasons has filled with soft, bright, new, hand-knit or crocheted items.  See www.livingearthgatherings.org  for more information

So far, all these wonderful warm things have all been distributed at two places in eastside Portland:

~ Raphael House in SE provides safe shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence, often escaping with only the clothes on their backs.

~ St. Andrew Church in NE has a monthly “Harvest Share” food program, providing free, fresh local produce and emergency assistance to people in need.

We will continue to distribute new donations through mid-February, so if you love to knit, sew, or crochet, don’t stop now!  Seven Corners New Seasons Market at SE Division/19th Ave.  is open from 8am-10pm every day, so you can drop items at your convenience.

We’ll never know who donated the beautiful baby items, or the matching sets, the cozy hats and bright scarves, or the soft fleece scarves in children’s patterns. Whoever you are, with your nimble fingers and caring hearts, your anonymous generosity is amazing, humbling, and deeply appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who has responded to this program. The Hats & Scarves project is off to a great start on very short notice this winter, and we look forward to seeing in grow. If you don’t knit or crochet but want to help, you can help us keep the project going by making a donation in any amount at www.livingearthgatherings.org, or volunteer to help with the program.

May all beings be happy, may all beings know peace,

Betsy Toll
