Interested in non-profit work and want to work for youth? The Youth Development Network Coordinator is the community liaison for after school and mentoring organizations in various cities through out Oregon. This entry-level, non-profit coordinator, AmeriCorps VISTA position will be responsible for building a regional network of youth development workers in a joint project of Oregon Mentors and OregonASK. Activities include identifying regional area mentoring and after school programs, recruiting caregivers of the youth to participate in the Youth Development Network (YDN), and organizing, planning, and hosting trainings and meetings of the regional network. Among these activities the YDN coordinator will also be responsible for recruiting volunteers and raising funds for the area programs. You will have the opportunity to interact with other VISTA members throughout the state to help raise awareness about the importance of mentoring and after school programs. The term of service is April 16, 2009 until April 15, 2010, with the opportunity to reapply for a second year.

The selected AmeriCorps VISTA member will be placed in Portland. Portland is more than the economic hub of Oregon. Strategically located on the majestic Columbia River near the northwest tip of the state, Portland serves as Oregon's cultural embassy with one of the largest collections of museums, galleries and art centers in the Northwest.
