Scope of Position:

The ACCESS Scholarship Organizer is responsible for overseeing the Black United Fund of Oregon's Scholarship program.

Specific Job Responsibilities: • Evaluates incoming scholarship applications • Monitors scholarship recipient progress at college / university. • Provide support to scholarship recipients with research and essays for other scholarships • Provide support to scholarship writing workshop attendees with research and essays for other scholarships • Ensures proper administration of all Black United Fund scholarship awards, including serving as liaison to the Board of Directors, prompt and accurate data entry in GiftWorks activities, and timely reports on Scholarship award making activities. • Manages the Scholarship Evaluation Committee. • Recruits, trains, supervises and provide materials to the Black United Fund’s Scholarship Evaluators to ensure achievement of the Black United Fund's scholarship program goals. • Maintains continual contact with Executive Director to evaluate the progress of the Scholarships Programs. • Periodically evaluates and updates scholarship application, process and program. • Organize and market to schools, youth programs, churches and other groups the Scholarship Writing Workshops. • Conducts annual inventory of library resources for scholarships. Monitor and suggest purchase of scholarship resource materials as needed. • Organize and implement the Individual Development Accounts (IDA) for students. • Design and implement Volunteer program. • Ensures current knowledge of professional and/or community matters by attending appropriate meetings and seminars. • Maintain written guidelines on all programs in this department and support with writing policies and procedures for other departments as needed. • Works closely with Development team to facilitate collecting stories, testimonials, and photos from scholarship recipients CONTACT: For more information about this position please contact: Adrienne Livingston, Executive Director (503) 282-7973 or [email protected]

Salary / Pay Rate:stiped of about $800/month
Required Skills and Abilities:Education, Experience and Training: • Bachelor's degree of higher in business, communications, marketing, or related field • Minimum of 2+ year's experience in nonprofit grants management, scholarship management or program management • Supervisory experience preferred Skills and Knowledge: • Belief in the Black United Fund of Oregon's mission and a strong interest in working on behalf of low-income residents, community-based organizations, and communities of color. • Proven research and analytical skills. • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills. • Proven ability to convene and facilitate group activities. • Experience in program planning and development. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; oral, written and graphic and the ability to work with a diverse public agencies and volunteers. • Excellent management and solid planning skills, attention to detail and an ability to handle multiple tasks at once. • Enthusiasm for the Black United fund of Oregon's mission and values. • Willingness to work hard and to be a team member of a staff of committed and talented individuals working towards social and economic development in low-income communities. • Ability to work independently and with an interdisciplinary team. • Willingness to make a minimum two year commitment to this position and to working with the Black United Fund of Oregon. • Computer literate with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher. • Dependable car, valid driver's license and current auto insurance in compliance with state law.
