Life by Design NW is launching a new Volunteer Engagement Program to utilize the extensive skills and talents of individuals 50+. We are looking for volunteers who want to make a meaningful contribution to the community and contribute to Life by Design's goals in serving as a model for future civic engagement projects.

We are currently seeking applicants for the volunteer position of Information Resource Specialist/Librarian to help develop Life by Design NW's new Information and Resource Center. A job description is attached.

Position: Information Resource Specialist/Librarian Information and Resource Center Life by Design NW Volunteer Engagement Program

Summary: The Information Resource Specialist is responsible for the development of Life by Design NW’s new Information and Resource Center.

Responsibilities: •Implement a Library Management System for printed materials and digital resources which reflect Life by Design NW’s commitment to Life Planning, Employment, Volunteering, Community Service, and Wellness/Active Living.

•Make recommendations for books, periodicals and software appropriate to the interests of Life by Design patrons.

•Purchase recommended materials from publishers, wholesalers, and distributors as needed.

•Acquire, prepare, and classify resources so that patrons can find information easily.

•Catalogue all existing resources into the Library Management System.

•Monitor system of checking resources in and out of the center.

•Update the current inventory of all resources.

•Track expenses related to the Resource Center.

•Post the latest programs, classes, and services on the Life by Design NW website.

•Maintain resource room in an orderly fashion and encourage appropriate use of the resource center materials.

Desired Skills: Life by Design NW seeks to create a well-researched and maintained library system easily accessible to our 50+ participants. In this volunteer position, a degree in library science and strong interests in this special population is desired. Previous experience working with library reference systems, organization and cataloguing of materials, and user services desired. Excellent organizational and systems management skills. Willingness to learn Salesforce.com.
