position summary:

Intern will work with the Board of Directors and Committee Chairs on tasks including, but not necessarily limited to:
-Documenting Committee Chair and Volunteer Job Descriptions
-Creating work calendars and binders for Volunteer Positions
-Assisting with and/or overseeing transfer of data from legacy FileMaker databases to updated system
-Checking and distributing mail
-Assisting the Board with various administrative tasks
-Assisting the Board with 501c3 compliance tasks, including updating record-keeping (bookkeeping knowledge not required)
-Researching grant opportunities and preparing grant applications

12 month commitment requested

Required Skills and Abilities:Applicant can type, has a working knowledge of MS Word and Excel; is comfortable using online searches, forums and social networking sites; and has strong written and verbal communication skills. Applicant is organized and self-motivated, and has work, volunteer, or other references to support these assertions. The ideal candidate also has experience working in both Mac and PC environments, has grant-writing experience, is familiar with best business practices for volunteer and 501c3 organizations, and has experience managing or working with databases (such as FileMaker). Preference given to applicant with data entry and/or 10-key experience, as well as applicants with a passion for the arts and experience working with artists.
Qualifications: Applicant is organized and self-motivated, and has school, work, volunteer, or other references to support these qualities. Strong written communication skills and ability to organize information in a clear, understandable way must also be demonstrated through the resume, cover letter, and references.
Education Required:High School or equiv.
