Paradise Faded: The Fight for Louisiana, an excellent film that analyzes the causes, effects, and solutions to wetland loss in coastal Louisiana.

With powerful images and a great soundtrack, the film illustrates the unique culture and ecology that are disappearing along the base of the Mississippi River as the federal government continues to stall restoration.

This workshop will take place in the home of a Sunnyside Neighborhood resident and be a hands-on demonstration to teach folks how to weatherize their homes and to generate volunteers to spread the knowledge and work throughout Sunnyside and beyond.

Topics will include how heat and air move within a home, how a blower-door test works, and hands on installation of cost-effective measures to reduce air leaks and insulate a home.

Living Yoga Volunteer Training

Do you love yoga and community service?

Living Yoga is a non-profit yoga outreach organization that offers free yoga classes as a tool for self-transformation to prisons, drug & alcohol rehabilitation centers, disadvantaged youth, domestic violence resources and other populations who would not otherwise have access to it.

The Northwest Service Academy is looking for a variety of rewarding service opportunities in the Portland Metro Area for groups of five to ten AmeriCorps volunteers on October 24th, 2009—National Make a Difference Day.

Make a Difference Day is an opportunity for NWSA members to collaborate with organizations and engage their communities in novel and exciting ways. Creative and nonstandard proposals are encouraged, but all projects should be aligned with at least one of NWSA’s core missions to build community, address human needs, and work for the betterment of the environment.

Fence Building Work Party at Oregon Food Bank's new Westside Learning Garden!

Oregon Food Bank is starting a new garden site! Help us break ground for our new Westside Learning Garden on Wednesday September 23rd! Our project for the day will be to install fence posts. Please note this will NOT involve digging holes! We will be setting the posts level in the holes, and then pouring dry concrete mix into the post holes. We won’t have to pre-mix the cement with water! There will be some lifting involved, but there will be tasks for those who cannot lift more than 25 pounds.
