The Community Housing Resource Center will be holding a free homebuyer orientation on Wednesday, October 20th, from 6-7:30PM at the Center's new location at 103 E. 29th St., Vancouver, WA. 98663. This workshop outlines the steps to homeownership and the services provided by the Center. No reservations are required. Learn about Cohousing And Tour Community on October 21!

Learn about cohousing and tour the Daybreak Cohousing community, which is seeking new members, on Thursday, October 21, 6:30-8 pm on site at 2525 N. Killingsworth Street. (#72 Killingsworth bus or Max to the Killingsworth station). Daybreak Cohousing was named one of the nations “top 10 green cohousing developments” by Natural Home Magazine (January 2009). Daybreak members range in age from babies to 70+. Homes have most of the features of conventional homes, and members also enjoy extensive common facilities. A 10 percent reduction in cost is being offered through December 2010 on available homes.

Girls Inc. currently seeks a Program Director to oversee its Afterschool and Enrichment programs including Girls Take Off, Girls Advisory Council and Associates Mentoring Programs. This includes managing program curriculum, program sites, program staff, program-related projects, planning processes, budgets, sites, supplies, calendars, events, communications, volunteers, partners, and other similar program resources, tools, and relationships. This will also include providing various types of administrative support for programs and related activities, including preparing and managing correspondence, researching, compiling reports, maintaining files, reviewing documentation, managing projects, coordinating travel, planning meetings and events, and similar administrative activities.

County Digs and Greenspace Property Donation Program

Property donations available for urban food and greenspace purposes! 

Multnomah County’s Office of Sustainability and Tax Title have partnered to bring our community an innovative program that reflects the county’s commitment to healthy, local food and our natural environment.

Through the County Digs and Greenspace Property Donation Program, Multnomah County donates tax-foreclosed properties at no cost to governments and qualified non-profit organizations in our community if the property will be put to continuous, productive use as a community garden, urban farm, teaching garden, and/or as a greenspace.

2010 Application Period Open from October 15, 2010 to November 30, 2010.

MIKE Program--Multicultural Integrated Kidney Education Program-- is a community non-profit organization empowering youth to be ambassadors of health in service to their diverse communities through mentorship, partnership, and the promotion of healthy kidneys. We act as guides to promote healthy behaviors and decrease risky behavior in order to decrease the incidence of obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and risky behaviors, with a strong emphasis on promoting social and emotional health, since all factor into kidney failure.
