CALL FOR ART/PERFORMANCES/SUBMISSIONS – PHONE BOOK MASH-UP

Working Artists Network and Yelp.com are producing an unusual recycle arts project where the main ingredient is old PHONE BOOKS!

We’re calling the project, the PHONE BOOK MASH-UP, and artists of ANY genre – 2D visual, 3D, fashion design, instrument makers, musicians, filmmakers, poets – anyone engaged in the arts in the Portland area – can apply to participate.

We’ll be choosing up to 15 artists, performers, crafters, writers, etc. for this 3 month process leading up to a BIG BASH at our secret location [well, it’ll be a secret until it’s time to let the cat out of the bag!] where YOUR ART, FASHIONS, PERFORMANCE, FILM, COMICBOOK, WHATEVER will be showcased.

TO APPLY: Write a short paragraph describing how you would use phone books in your resultant work of art! Be creative and have fun and remember that recycling phonebooks is a key element in the resulting work – whether it’s worn, painted on, collaged into something else, fashioned into a musical instrument, part of your indie film – you tell us how you want to use these phone books in your work, and we’ll choose 15 artists to take on this fun challenge.

Include a link to your website or a webpage showcasing your recent work, send us a Bio or Artist’s Statement, attach jpegs or mp3’s or PDF’s, etc.– just get us to your work so we know who you are and what it is you do as an artist!

Deadline for this call is April 30th!

If you have any questions, or to post your submission, e-mail [email protected]. Be sure to put PHONE BOOK MASH-UP in your subject line so your mail gets immediate attention!

We look forward to hearing from you soon! Adrienne Fritze and the Gang at Working Artists LLC
