Learn about cohousing and meet members of Daybreak Cohousing, a new Portland, OR community, with an expected move-in date of October 2009.

Location:  Patton Square Park at N. Interstate and N. Emerson, next to the Interstate Firehouse Cultural Center.  Take the Yellow line Max to the Killingsworth station or the #72 Killingsworth bus. (Rain location: Yetti's Wine bar, 1914 N. Killingsworth Street)

Free Lead-Safe Home Projects Workshop

Thinking about sanding down the window-sills of your 1945 house? Want to refinish that beautiful old used door? Want to use a hand-me-down crib with painted surfaces? Be sure you’re being lead-safe! Community Energy Project is offering a free workshop on how to conduct paint disturbing projects while protecting you and your family from the hazards of lead exposure. Lead-Risk Certified instructor Perry Cabot will be giving this free and informative presentation on how to set up for a project, carry out your project safely, and handle effective clean-up. Qualified participants receive free lead-safe cleaning materials, including a sanding sponge, HEPA mask, 4mil plastic, and more.

Tuesday, June 16th from 6:00-7:30 PM at Community Energy Project 422 NE Alberta Street

Summer Open Studios ar Skill Share Studio

Hello friends!We have exciting news for you - we've changed our name - Skill Share Studio should say a bit more about who we are and what we do.

We also have a new website, equipped with a calendar so that you can stay up-to-date on our happenings  at www.skillsharestudio.org.

We are happy to announce new summer Open Studios! On Tuesday evenings 7-9pm, and Wednesdays and Thursdays 1-3pm we will be opening our doors for you to come and make use of our space and tools. As always we have our pottery wheel and lots of ceramic tools, and we will also be putting to work our sewing machines, collage materials and all kinds of other creative implements.  Come on by and share in the fun!

OUTSIDE IN - VOLUNTEER POSITION

Referral Volunteer

Help out at Outside In’s Medical Clinic!

Outside In is looking for volunteers to support increased access to medical resources for our clients by assisting clinic staff with specialty referrals, quality assurance, patient resources and medical records management. You will provide support to the clinic front desk and the medical assistants.

Submarine Queue Volunteers Needed at OMSI!

Submarine Queuing Volunteers assist OMSI visitors as they prepare for tours of the USS Blueback submarine.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Communicate with submarine tour guides by radio. •Use Patron’s Edge computerized ticketing system to determine the number of tickets sold for each tour. •Take visitors’ tickets for tours. •Verify that visitors are at least three years old and 36 inches tall and can safely board the submarine.

We are looking for folks who are at least 16 years old, able to provide excellent customer service, and looking to make a commitment to volunteering for at least 8 hours a month for 9 months.
