DATE CORRECTION! Museum of the Peace Corps Experience

The Committee for a Museum of the Peace Corps Experience (CMPCE), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) in Portland, will be having its next meeting on Saturday, August 1 from 3:00 to 5:00 P. M. 

The meeting will be in the meeting room of the Hollywood Branch Library located at: 4040 N.E. Tillamook Street, Portland, OR 97212, 503-988-5391. The Committee invites anyone with an interest in the planning of the museum or in the 50th Anniversary Peace Corps exhibit collaboration with the Oregon Historical Society.  Former Peace Corps volunteers are especially invited.  We look forward to seeing you on Saturday afternoon.

From the Inside Out has decided not to hold their final August 2009 meeting due to lack of response.  If you are interested in the group continuing – put your calls in soon!  Otherwise the group may go on a long break or even discontinue.

Case Manager, Girls Residential

Full time.  Dynamic individual is responsible for the case management and treatment planning of 8-9 adjudicated females living in a structured residential program.  Duties include management of the referral and intake system, writing all assessments and treatment plans and leading girls’ skill building and processing groups. 

Flexible schedule required to accommodate the needs of the program including some evenings and weekends.  Valid Oregon driver's license and acceptable driving record required.

OUTSIDE IN VOLUNTEER POSITION- Client Benefits Advocate

Volunteer in the Clinic at Outside In!

Outside In is looking for volunteers to assist the Health Access Coordinator with the development and implementation of a benefits eligibility program. Help clients through the application and disability determination process for Social Security Income/Social Security Disabiilty Income. This position will offer exceptional learning opportunities in medical social work with a focus on benefits eligibility and working with medically under-served populations.

Scheduled shifts: Mondays and Thursdays 9:00am-1:00pm for a minimum of 3 months.

August Volunteer Orientaion for VOZ Workers' Rights Education Project

Join us to learn about the new opportunities that VOZ has for our volunteers! Come spend time with other service minded individuals and discuss the many ways that we can help the Portland community.

In these tough economic times, volunteering is a great way to make a positive impact on the community. Our Volunteer Coordinator will tell you about our upcoming events, campaigns and ongoing programs that are in need of volunteer support. Then, at this meeting we can match you individually with a program that works with your schedule and desired level of commitment.

Refreshments will be served and great company will be had!

The meeting will be held at the VOZ Office on Oak St. at Tuesday August 4th, at 6:00pm.

LNPB National Plastic Quilt Project: Call for Artists

Calling all creative minds and environmentally conscious people! Leave No Plastic Behind is asking outstanding artists, community members and celebrities to participate in the National Plastic Quilt Project by designing a square to be auctioned at our fall fundraiser.

For the National Plastic Quilt Project, participants design a 12” square out of plastic materials that are usually thrown away. In the past,people have chosen to give plastic bottle caps a new life, woven plastic bags, and even sewn together various collected items to create an original piece of art.
