Be a part of the National Plastic Quilt Project!

Help quilt together a message that favors alternatives to single-use plastic! Eighty percent of the plastic now swirling around in the ocean has traveled there from land via rivers and streams. The National Plastic Quilt Project is an important tool for bringing the issue back home so it can be solved!

The Project takes place August through October and includes an avoidance of single-use plastic, an accumulation of unavoidable plastic and a creation of at least one 12" square quilt patch from any parts of the plastic collected. Applications, available at www.LNPB.org, must be submitted by August 15, and squares will be due in late October. Groups, families, classrooms, businesses and other organizations are strongly encouraged to participate.

Q & A

Playworks Training needs a space August 27-September 2

Playworks is a national non-profit youth development organization whose goal is to improve elementary students' learning opportunities by improving school communities. Our school based programs send one well-trained, caring adult to a low income public elementary school for the entire year to implement our curriculum during and after school hours. We are excited to bring our services to Portland and August 27- September 2 (including the weekend) we will be holding staff development trainings from 8 am-6 pm for 40-50 people. We are looking for enough space to run games, activities and break-out sessions. A gym or community center in Portland with an adjoining outdoor playground would be ideal.  If you have any leads, please contact us. Play On!
