CNRG Nonprofit Networking Night - Oct 15th

Join us for an evening of conversation and live music!

Are you a nonprofit or someone who works with them?  A nonprofit looking for affordable consultants or vendors?  A volunteer looking for an organization eager for your time?  A nonprofit staff member wanting to partner on a project?

If so, CNRG's nonprofit networking event is for you. Come meet others who work and volunteer in Portland's nonprofit sector. Swap resources, share ideas, devise solutions and just hang out with community-minded people like yourself at a great community cafe.

Global Day of Climate Action October 24th with 350.org

Join the Global Day of Climate Action on October 24th in Portland as part of 350.org. In Portland, the list of "350" events is growing daily. Already scheduled for our October 24th DAY OF CLIMATE ACTION is a kayak and canoe formation of the number "350" on the Willamette. PSU students, bicyclists, walkers supporting the 350-mile coastal trek, families, and concerned individuals will convene in Pioneer Square.

Brooklyn Bay Benefit - Oct 24

The Brooklyn Bay Benefit Performance

7:30 pm: food, drink and socializing 

We’ll present excerpts from four performances currently being developed at The Brooklyn Bay, showcasing the different kinds of programming the Bay offers. 

Tao Soup: The Drunken Monkeys will perform a vocal improvisation demonstrating a form of spontaneous music they have been developing for a new section of Tao Soup (scheduled to open in 2010).  Performed by Rachel Heichen, Melanya Helene, Kristy Rose Leech, Marc Otto, and Jamie M. Rea.

Join the Columbia Slough Watershed Council for an evening of good beer, appetizers, and Slough discoveries. This event is a fun way to meet Slough neighbors and learn more about the Council’s free programs and events. You’ll also discover great recreation opportunities in the Columbia Slough watershed, including paddling, biking, and hiking! Light refreshments will be provided. YOUTH PROGRESS R.O.Y. PROJECT’S NEXT “SOUP TO GO” EVENT!

Portland non-profit Youth Progress Association (YPA) is holding their Monthly “Soup To Go” sale to benefit the R.O.Y project, YPA’s vocational training program. The event will be held at the organization’s office lobby at 2040 SE Powell Blvd. on Thursday Oct 15 from 11am to 1pm.

The R.O.Y. project (Recovering Oregon Youth) is our vocational training program which includes the soup project, designed to help lower-functioning youth gain work experience and practice social skills in a supportive environment and easing their transition into employment outside of YPA.

position summary:

The Oregon Environmental Council (OEC) is seeking the right candidate to lead our global warming program. The program director for global warming promotes public policies to slow global warming and engages individuals and businesses in protecting our climate. Specific near-term program objectives include working to ensure robust implementation of a low-carbon fuel standard through Oregon Environmental Quality Commission rulemaking and preparing comprehensive global warming policy proposals for consideration by the 2011 Oregon Legislature and beyond.

Salary / Pay Rate:Starting salary range is $38,000 to $43,000 commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits include four weeks of paid vacation annually, fully paid health insurance, and employer contributions to a retirement fund equal to 6% of salary after twelve months.

Zenger Farm Seeks Community Outreach Intern

Would you like to gain experience and skills in outreach and community involvement? Are you passionate about farm education and environmental stewardship? Are you able to commit to 4 to 4-5 hours per week for 2 months or more? You could be a Community Outreach Intern at Zenger Farm.

The Community Outreach Intern will develop and implement outreach and engagement efforts with a focus on outer southeast neighborhoods. Share your skills and help make the wonderful resources at Zenger Farm available to more community members. Nonprofit Career Month is an interactive, user-generated community site designed to provide a comprehensive picture of what it's like to work in a nonprofit organization as well as resources and tips for how to create a career in the sector. For the first year of this initiative, we’re creating resources and events in five pilot states, we've got a shiny new website NonprofitCareerMonth.org, and are offering free virtual simulcasts and webinars you can sign up for.
