"Food is Elementary" - a culinary and cultural experience for children and adults

Sunday, Jan. 17 (6:30PM - 7:30 PM) Elementary school teacher Lisa Morgan will give a demonstration, with food samples, from "Food is Elementary," a curriculum for young students through adults on food from around the world. Come get a taste of the results and hear how her students, their families, and the other teachers have responded.

Orange Splot LLC is a small development company and general contractor that develops green, community-oriented housing primarily in N/NE Portland. Our staff currently consists of the owner and site supervisor, and we are looking for a person to be a part-time office manager at our home office and part-time construction assistant on the job site. Although familiarity with office and job-site functions of a small builder is desirable, it is not required. It’s more important to us that the applicant have interest, enthusiasm and aptitude – than to find someone who already knows how to do all of the work required.

Free Glaucoma Screening - Wednesday January 20 or 27

Early diagnosis is key in preventing in preventing glaucoma, a serious and permanent eye disease. Major risk groups are: African-Americans, Hispanics/Latinos, Asians; people with diabetes; and those aged 60 and older.

Legacy Good Samaritan Devers Eye Institute, internationally recognized for its glaucoma work, invites you to a free visual field screening. It is painless and takes only a few minutes.

Pantry Volunteers Needed!

We need your help!We are a non-profit, faith based, shelf shopping emergency food pantry. As soon as we get more volunteers, we can open on Sundays.

Volunteers allow us to serve those who need emergency food, including the working poor. The civil rights rules we follow are rigid and training is ongoing.

We need responsible, polite, kind, and non-judgmental volunteers, daily, weekly or monthly.We need volunteers Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 12:00, 12:00 to 3:00 as Intake volunteers, Shelf Stockers and Pantry Client Helpers.
