Think & Drink on fossil fuel dependency and green jobs: A happy-hour conversation series sponsored by Oregon Humanities. Thursday, July 8, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. rontoms, 600 E. Burnside, Portland. Free and open to the public. Guests must be twenty-one and over.

The summer 2010 Think & Drink happy-hour conversation brings together environmental historian Thomas Andrews, investigative journalist Rebecca Clarren, and OPB radio host Emily Harris, who will moderate the discussion about fossil fuel dependency and the future of energy on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at 6:00 at rontoms, 600 E. Burnside, Portland. The happy-hour series, which sparks provocative conversations about big ideas, is sponsored by Oregon Humanities (formerly Oregon Council for the Humanities).

DO YOU LIKE TO USE THE INTERNET TO SEARCH FOR HEALTH INFORMATION? HAVE YOU BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH A MENTAL HEALTH CONDITION? WANT TO EARN A LITTLE CASH?

YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN A STUDY EXPLORING HOW YOUNG ADULTS USE THE INTERNET TO FIND INFORMATION AND SUPPORT FOR THEIR MENTAL HEALTH.

TO BE ELIGIBLE YOU MUST: • BE BETWEEN THE AGES OF 18-30. • GO ONLINE AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK • HAVE A MENTAL HEALTH DIAGNOSIS • BE ABLE TO COME TO PORTLAND STATE UNIVERSITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE STUDY

PARTICIPANTS WILL TAKE PART IN AN INTERNET RESEARCH ACTIVITY THE ACTIVITY WILL LAST 45-60 MINUTES. ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL BE COMPENSATED $20.00

Papermaking Workshop Using Recycled Materials

 

Papermaking Using Recycled Materials

Class will make paper by hand using scrap paper and repurposed materials from The ReBuilding Center. Leave the class with a mold and deckle you fabricate in addition to the paper you have made. Class suitable for children over 8 if accompanied by an adult. Be ready to get wet! Bring some paper to recycle! Go home and make more!!

 

When: Sat. June 26, 9am-3pm

Where: at The ReBuilding Center

Tuition: $40

Parent/ Child pairs save 20%, class tuition $64 per pair!

$5 Materials fee paid to instructor on 1st day of class.

In need of volunteer translators!

Greetings,The South Tabor Neighborhood Association (SE 52nd - 82nd between Division and Powell) is in need of translators to help translate a word processing flyer for an upcoming event into Chinese and Vietnamese. Become a Zenger Farm Ambassador! Join a team of volunteers to support exciting outreach and fundraising events at the farm and around the city. We are working to increase community support so we can meet the overwhelming demand for our educational programs. You can be an integral part of this work by sharing our message of environmental stewardship and good food for all. Volunteers will gain experience in outreach, fundraising and event planning and meet community members and local-food leaders at events throughout Portland.
