Special Notice

CNRG is recruiting new board and committee members!

Hello CNRG Community!

CNRG is recruiting new board and committee members to help us take our organization to the next level.  We are looking for people with a variety of experience including, leadership, legal expertise, outreach, project management, IT (drupal), moderating the digest, event planning, marketing, and fundraising (grants and membership).  Most importantly we need people who have energy and want to make an impact in the community.  If you are interested please fill out our online volunteer application and please feel free to share this opportunity with others you think may be interested.

As most of you know, CNRG has made great strides in recent years.  We are about to launch the latest version of our website which will include a calendar, with additional features being added as possible.  We are looking forward to bringing on new sponsors and rolling out a membership campaign.  We strive to connect community, grassroots and nonprofit groups to create a stronger, more collaborative Portland.  We continue to offer our free quarterly trainings, as well as the monthly CNRG networking night.  We continue to accomplish all of this as an all volunteer run organization.

One of the best aspects of serving on a CNRG committee or on the board is that each person has the opportunity to have a significant impact.  If you have commitment and energy to help us achieve our goals, we want to support you!   As a CNRG volunteer you the have opportunity to connect with many different people, build skills in many areas of nonprofit management and community organizing and see the tremendous development of a unique organization.  If you feel ready to make a valuable contribution to strengthening our community we would love for you to fill out our online volunteer application.

We look forward to talking with you!

Sincerely,

The CNRG Board

Wednesday, June 23, 2010 - 6:30pm - 8:30pm

The Portland Building 1120 SW 5th Ave portland, OR

Portland General Electric (PGE) operates Oregon’s only coal plant located in Boardman, Oregon. The Boardman Coal Plant emits 5 million tons of carbon dioxide (that’s equivalent to almost 1 million cars), over 15,000 tons of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide and over 200 pounds of mercury every single year making it Oregon’s largest stationary source of global warming pollution.

How can YOU support the Gulf Coast?

In light of the disaster in the Gulf, now is the time for world leaders to join hands and steer our country’s energy policy away from our dependence on fossil fuels and into the light of clean energy and renewables.

Join hands on June 26th in Oregon and draw a line in the sand against offshore oil drilling.

This Global Event is Simple!

STEP 1 Go to Short Sands beach at Oswald West State Park at 11 AM rain or shine. STEP 2 Join hands for 15 minutes at 12:00 forming lines in the sand against oil drilling in our coastal waters. STEP 3 Leave only your footprints.

The image is powerful, the message is simple. NO to Offshore Oil Drilling, YES to Clean Energy.

Oregon will Join Hands... *Short Sands Beach, Nehalem OR
