LWV: Election Methods Discussion

The League of Women Voters of Portland will host a discussion of Oregon’s current election methods as well as alternatives on Wednesday, November 12 at noon. The event will be held in the Board Room of the Multnomah County Building, 501 SE Hawthorne Boulevard, Portland. The event is free, and the public is invited to attend and bring a brownbag lunch.

Are there better ways to elect our public officials? Instant runoff voting, fusion voting, National Popular Vote – what are they, how do they work, why should we consider them? These are natural questions for Oregon, a state that pioneered a method for the direct election of U.S. Senators, contributing to the passage of the 17th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
