Sale at Title Wave Used Bookstore

The Title Wave Used Bookstore sells retired Multnomah County Library materials at discounted prices. The store is run almost entirely by approximately 70 volunteers who sort, check, price, and shelve materials from the library’s 19 locations. Volunteers also provide customer service for shoppers who enjoy a selection of books in various genres, CDs, DVDs, audio books and more. Proceeds go to Multnomah County Library.

 

On Saturday, August 7, 2010 The Multnomah County Library's Title Wave Used Bookstore will hold their annual Ginormous Sale, all used merchandise will be 55% off the marked price. Doors will be open from 9 AM to 4 PM.

There are so many *healing herbs in Portland’s neighborhoods*! Come on a walk to meet the friendly flowers, common herbs, and useful weeds of our fair city, from Calendula and Comfrey to Fennel and Lavender. We'll talk about the medicinal properties of local plants and the ways that they can be prepared for use. All ages and walking speeds welcome. Tree ID Walk

The northwest has many species of beautiful trees, but do you know how to tell one tree from another or what characteristics to look for when identifying trees?

 

The community is invited to attend a free tree walk and basic tree identification workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 27. The walk will begin near the playground at Marshall Park, 1009 E. McLoughlin Blvd. in Vancouver, WA and continue to the grounds of Clark College and back. The workshop will focus on basic tree terminology and how to identify some common trees in our region.

 

This learning event is part of Tree Talk, a series of free educational workshops all about trees presented by Vancouver Urban Forestry.

Ecotrust Event Spaces Logistics Manager: Will work with the Director of Events and Sales and Marketing Manager to both manage our event staff and manage the day to day operations in our event spaces. The qualified candidate is able to collaborate with staff and clients, is customer service orientated, and proficient coordinating event details. The candidate must enjoy working in a fast paced environment and be committed to the organization's mission. Physical work is involved - the Logistics Manager will at times be involved in event setup and breakdown which entails moving tables, chairs and small tents. Position is Tuesday - Saturday and requires flexibility with schedule as occasional early mornings or late nights are required.

Space is still available for Holocaust Training Workshop

The Oregon Holocaust Resource Center in collaboration with the Jewish Federation of Portland, The Office of Student Activities at Lewis & Clark College and the Jewish Partisan Educational Foundation will be offering a one day teacher training workshop on August 12. Registered participants will also be invited to attend a special screening of the film Defiance on the evening of August 11 at 6pm and tour the Oregon Holocaust Resource Center at 1953 NW Kearney in Portland. The cost of this workshop is $30 to participants. Enrollment is limited to 50 participants. The workshop will run from 8:30am to 5pm and be held in Portland, OR at Lewis & Clark College.
